Hi all,

As you may be aware there have been a number of problems with spam on this forum and difficulties with some users logging in. We have therefore created a new discussion forum within the Leicestershire Villages website. Although it means that users will have to be registered with the Leicestershire Villages website to join in discussions it should result in a significant reduction in the amount of inappropriate material on the forum. It will also make it much easier to block any users that persistently post inappropriate content.

Everyone who registered with the Leicestershire Villages site was automatically registered for the original forum so if you did that you should be able to login to the new forum without having to re-register. Those people who registered directly with the original forum will need to register with Leicestershire Villages separately in order to post onto the new forum (although you can view all posts without being registered). We were originally hoping to transfer all users onto the new system automatically but this simply wasn’t feasible. Registering with Leicestershire Villages is very simple and just requires an e-mail address. It also means that you will be able to join in discussions, not just in your own village, but right across the county.

You can get to the new forum on www.leicestershirevillages.com/greateaston/forums.html but you will always be able to access the forums through the link in the Local Postings section of the Leicestershire Villages site.

The new forum is now live and available to use, although we will allow users to post into this forum for another week. After that, these forums will effectively become read-only, so that you will still be able to read old posts, but users won’t be able to edit them or add any new ones.

The features in the new forum should be similar to those that you have been using here, so I hope that this is a positive step for everyone. Apologies for any inconvenience in moving to the new system, but I hope that this is going to make it much easier for more people to get involved.
